21st Space Wing
The
21st Space Wing, commanded by Brig Gen Duane W. Deal and
headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, CO, is the Air Force's
only organization providing missile warning and space control to
unified commanders and combat forces worldwide. We are located
in 5 countries, crossing 9 time zones, consisting of 5 groups, a
director of staff, 43 units at 20 locations. We literally cover
the world with our operations. The 21 SW provides missile
warning and space control to North American Aerospace Defense
and U.S. Strategic Command through a network of command and
control units and ground and space–based sensors operated by
geographically separated units around the world.
The 50th Space Wing Provides the following:

Provides early warning of strategic and theater ballistic
missile attacks and foreign space launches
Detects, tracks and catalogs more than 9,500 manmade objects
in space, from those in near–Earth orbit to objects up to
22,300 miles above the earth's surface.
Explores counterspace warfighting technologies in the field
Hosts HQ NORAD, HQ NORTHCOM, HQ Air Force Space Command and
the 302nd Airlift Wing
Operates and supports Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station;
Thule Air Base, Greenland; and Clear AFS, Alaska
Provides community support to the 50th Space Wing, Schriever
AFB, Colorado
Provides community support to the Colorado Springs and the
Denver areas |
